Cassidy Hutchinson's Most Devastating Testimony

We did not expect to be surprised by Chief of Staff Mark Meadow’s advisor Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony, but it left us breathless. Her office was located between the Oval Office and her boss’ suite, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. It took tremendous courage for Hutchinson to testify, courage none of the men she worked around could manage. But her testimony under oath broke right through the Donald Trump West Wing lies.

Hutchinson, 25, was right in the center of all that occurred before, during, and after January 6, 2021.

Hutchinson said Giuliani asked her if she was excited about January 6. So she asked her boss about it, and Meadows responded, according. to MSNBC’s Maddowblog:

‘Things might get real, real bad on January 6.’

Leading up to the rally, she said:

‘I recall hearing the terms “Proud Boys” and “Oath Keepers” when [Rudy] Giuliani was around.’

Trump knew that the people entering the Elipse to hear his speech on January 6 were armed with knives, spears, bear spray, handguns, spears, rifles — and even AK-47s. Some of them had taken better firing positions in trees. He told the Secret Service to take down the magnetometers (metal detectors) so the crowd would be bigger on camera. He was not concerned because he said, according to The New York Intelligencer.

‘They’re not here to hurt me. They’re my people.’

Trump really wanted to lead the mob to the Capitol under siege. She said the deputy White House Chief of Staff for Operations Tony Ornato, told her what happened. Trump’s main Secret Service officer Bobbie Engel was in the room, according to The New York Times:

‘When Trump was told it was not safe to go — the riot was already under way — he said “I’m the f- - -ing president, take me up the Capitol now.” Then he had reached up to the front of the vehicle to try to grab the steering wheel. Robert Engel, the head of Trump’s security detail, grabbed his arm and said, “Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We’re going back to the West Wing. We’re not going to the Capitol.” With his free hand, Trump “lunged” at Engel and Ornato gestured toward his clavicles, suggesting Trump went for Engel’s throat.’

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone rushed down to Meadows’ office and told him that they needed to talk to Trump. Meadows responded:

‘He doesn’t want to do anything about it,.’

Cipollone responded:

‘Mark, something needs to be done or people are going to die. And the blood will be on your effing hands. I’m going down there.’

She could hear all of them talking about the mob shouting “hang Mike Pence.” The attorney tried to get Meadows to try to talk to Trump again. Meadows responded:

‘“You heard him, Pat, he thinks Mike deserves it,” Hutchinson quoted Meadows telling Cipollone about what the two men just heard from Trump. “He doesn’t think they’re doing anything wrong.”’’

The day after the failed coup. Meadows, Jared Kushner, and Ivanka Trump tried to get him to give a speech in an effort to head off any effort to remove him via the 25th Amendment. And indeed, some members of his cabinet were considering taking him out of office because he was unfit to lead.

‘]The president] wanted to put in it that he wanted to potentially pardon them. He didn’t think that they did anything wrong. He thought…the person who did something wrong that day was Mike Pence by not standing with him.’

January 6 Select Committee Vice-Chair Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY)announced at the end of the hearing that witnesses have reported “being intimidated by people with ties to the Trump administration.
