Hi again. For those of you who don't know, I finally escaped the Home for Wayward Writers. All rehabbed up and ready to write! How about some news?
Gloria
DeSantis or DeLoser?
Candidate for the 2024 presidential run, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis landed on the campaign stage with a wet Twitter thump, and he has gone downhill ever since.
But as of today, the governor has taken in as many contributions as Donald Trump did in his first six weeks. DeSantis has a comfortable $200 million treasure chest and counting. You see though, DeSantis has two big problems.
The first is the ex-president. Although the governor has begun sharpening his attacks on Trump, they land like a plate of pasta. Second and as important, Governor DeSantis has no charisma. U.S. presidents simply do not win elections without it.
Charisma is like a magnet drawing people to the candidate. Instead, we hear descriptors of the governor such as flat, boring, and dull.
Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA deceased) exuded so much magnetism a live room filled with 500 guests fell absolutely silent as the cameras began running.
Special Counsel Jack Smith Closing in on Trump's Documents Crime
Special Counsel Jack Smith may be wrapping up his investigation into the hundreds of classified documents Donald Trump allegedly stole, moved to his home at Mar-a-Lago, and potentially shared.
This is well beyond personality. Such classification protocols protect the national security — if followed.
Stealing the documents revealed “ignorance of the craft and a personal agenda” MSNBC reported. It also reflected a lack of concern. Surely any holder must see how adversaries and competitors would deal with the information.
Trump said on the CNN town hall meeting:
‘I would have the absolute right to do with them what I wanted to do.’
Such classification protects the national security. And the need to know is the determinator.
Our advarsaries look for advantages. And they would easily create a roadmap out of the stolen classified documents.
Honoring TinaTurner Wonder Woman
When she turned 40, the great musical performer Tina Turner hit her stride. The singer had just left her husband who was also also a musician, Ike Turner. He savagely battered Ms. Turner leaving her bloodied.
And the “Queen of Rock” performed her iconic song, Proud Mary in her last performances when she was nearly 70. People Magazine wrote:
‘Boasting one of the longest careers in rock history, Turner scored Billboard Top 40 hits across four decades, earning her Grammys, a Kennedy Center Honor, and entry into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.’
Through her music Tina Turner advocated for women. She died at age 83 of natural causes following long illnesses including kidney failure as well as PTSD from her time with Ike Turner.
