Hi there! Well, you may have noticed that I’m a little late. So I owe you an explanation. I listen to news regarding the Russian attack on the Ukraine pretty much all of the time I am awake. And sometimes when I’m not! So anyway, I’ve found that all that war, which I need to watch for the articles below that I write for the political online newsletter The Bipartisan Report, makes me very weary. So instead of writing my newsletter for you, I was asleep. Anyway.
I am so impressed with the courage and strength of the Ukrainian people and their president. I think they must be like us, but maybe around the time of World War II. Can you imagine that they are fighting against the Dictator Vladimir Putin to save the world’s democracies? And all they want from us are the tools to accomplish such a great task.
And there is President Joe Biden. What a guy. He rose to the task of being the world leader, too. Makes me proud to be an American. He ended his last great speech with these words, according to NBC.
‘For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.’
Well, enough of that. Let’s see what I have for you today!
Be Safe, Be Well, You & Yours. Gloria
Biden Unifies The World Against Putin/Trump During Europe Speech
An energized President Joe Biden was the one who brought members of NATO together in Brussels, Belgium, for an emergency meeting. Normally, it takes months and even longer to plan and prepare for a NATO meeting.
After the meeting, Biden slipped in a brief press conference. Then, he was off to the European Council’s G7 meeting.
He started off, CNN World reported:
‘[NATO] HAS NEVER, NEVER BEEN MORE UNITED THAN IT IS TODAY. PUTIN IS GETTING EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE [OF] WHAT HE INTENDED TO HAVE AS A CONSEQUENCE OF GOING INTO UKRAINE.’
Ukraine Thwarts Zelenskyy Assassination Attempt By 25 Man Hit Squad
At the Slovakia-Kyviv border in West Ukraine, police caught a “25-man hit squad,” according to the British Government. They were trained, merciless killers with instructions to kill President Zelenskyy.
The Huffington Post reported:
‘[T]HE ORGANIZATION OF RUSSIAN MERCENARIES REPORTEDLY TASKED WITH ASSASSINATING PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY.’
Kyiv counter-intelligence sources alleged that a Russian Secret Service agent went with the killer squad:
‘THE ALLEGED FOUNDER AND LEADER OF THE WAGNER GROUP, DMITRY UTKIN, IS BELIEVED TO HAVE NAZI SYMPATHIES ― AN IRONY IF TRUE CONSIDERING HOW RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN HAS JUSTIFIED HIS AGGRESSION IN UKRAINE BY CLAIMING IT NEEDS TO BE “DE-NAZIFIED.”’
Ketanji Brown Jackson’s National Approval Ratings Have GOP Shook
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson held up well in spite of the rough series of questions several Republicans pummeled her with during the Senate Judiciary Committee Supreme Court nominee hearing. But how does America feel about her? A new Gallup poll answers that.
Judge Jackson walked into the homes of Americans via cable news during the grueling 13-plus-hours day of questioning. And would it be surprising that America likes her better than nearly all of the other Supreme Court nominees, 58 percent, for the initial support?
The question posed to interviewees during the survey was, NPR reported:
‘WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THE SENATE VOTE IN FAVOR OF [NAME OF NOMINEE] SERVING ON THE SUPREME COURT, OR NOT?’
Belarusian Dissident Battalion Abandons Putin To Fight For Ukraine
Vladimir Putin looks lonely. There are photos of him sitting at the far end of the long table with his generals clustered around the other end of it. The Russian president has fired 1,000 employees out of fear for his own safety. But such isolation does not serve him, because he does not get appropriate feedback. For instance, a battalion in one of his most loyal countries, Belarus, just bailed on him.
The former U.S.S.R. country Belarus noticed that Putin has made public he wants to draw 20,000 troops out of their country and march them into Ukraine, according to The Daily Beast. The people have not had the training of Russia’s troops, and Putin has used those soldiers as cannon fodder. Everywhere we looked, the number of Russian troops killed in 27 days was estimated somewhere between 7,000 and 14,000 depending upon whom was asked. For comparison, at the height of the Vietnam War, about 2,000 soldiers died in the deadliest month, The Government Casualty Records.
The Belarusian soldiers have watched as Putin has bombed a formerly beautiful seaside city, Mariupol, into smithereens. The Russian president intentionally bombed a maternity/children’s ‘hospital, a school where 400 Ukrainians sought refuge, and a drama center where 1300 individuals hid. The bombing has been so continuous that rescuers have not been able to rescue them.
Republican Congressman Resigns In Disgrace After Felony Conviction
Twitter Linkedin Telegram Email
A certain number of legislators leave Congress every year due to age, time served, and burnout. But the Republicans have another reason to worry about their numbers.
Representative Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) would have a tough time doing his job in prison. He resigned shortly after being convicted on felony charges for crimes that could land him in prison for 15 years. He was convicted of “scheming to falsify and conceal material facts” in an investigation about “foreign national” contributions:
‘[HE CONCEALED] INFORMATION AND MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS TO FEDERAL AUTHORITIES WHO WERE INVESTIGATING ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTIONS MADE BY A FOREIGN NATIONAL TO THE CONGRESSMAN’S 2016 RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN.’
Fortenberry sent out an email to people who have supported him during his career. It read:
‘DUE TO THE DIFFICULTIES OF MY CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES, I CAN NO LONGER EFFECTIVELY SERVE.’
