Hi there! Are you ready for the weekend? Me too! Hey, wouldn’t it seem logical for a zero-gravity chair to just relax into a regular chair as it breathes its last breaths? One would think so. But at 2:43 a.m. some days ago I discovered that was not the case! And you’re going to laugh.
My dermatologist is rabid about me (and everyone) wearing support stockings. So I do. And truth be told they do make my legs feel better. He also insisted I put my feet over my head for 30 minutes a day — every day. No, not in a Kama Sutra sort of way. Imagine someone flat in a bed with a wedge-shaped footstool. That kind of feet higher than my head.
So I got a stripped-down version of a zero-gravity chair. The unassembled chair came and shortly thereafter I received a package with an engine or something in it, but clearly, something I didn’t order. So I sent it back. Well, apparently, that was the chair’s motor. I called them up and with a lot of hope, I got them to resend it.
I really like my chair. It makes me feel as if I’m in an autobody shop moving up and down. It’s a lot of fun and even has sound effects, which is really just the motor working.
Okay, back. to 2:43 on that fateful morning. I’d fallen asleep in my chair and all of a sudden the sound effects woke me up. And I’m tilting until my head is straight or nearly straight down and my feet toward the ceiling. I’m tired. I didn’t want to wake up, but clearly having all the blood rush to my head would not be a good idea. So I’m thinking “Don’t panic! Don’t panic! And I kind of am. But then I realized I could just turn halfway around and I was sitting more or less up. Then I fell back asleep. But that wasn’t the end of it.
When I woke up in the morning, I began wondering how I would get out of the chair that clasp me to it. Imagine a lawn chair effect. But when I tried to scooch down toward the end, the chair starts to tip over. Okay, that’s not good. But on the plus side, I realized my heartbeat is good and strong.
Maybe I could go over the arm. Oh wait, I have a 100-lb butt, so how do I think I’m going to get out? A catapult would work — if I had one. Even I started laughing.
Okay, maybe I could try the end again. It starts going down. This time, the chair really threatens to go over, so I really do not want to end up on the floor beneath my chair.
I’ve been on the floor recently (with the fall) and visiting was fine, but I it’s too soon to go again. By this time the chair and I have a love-hate relationship.
I’m getting a real workout but getting nowhere fast. Time is ticking by before I have to turn myself into a political journalist, so I’m starting to get a little worried. Finally, I find that just-right spot where I don’t have to go over the arm but don’t tip the chair over.
All I have to do is lock my feet around a bookcase shelf (I have lots of books) and maneuver my arm behind me then leverage it against the wall. Perfect! Well, until I get nearly all the way up.
It seems the paint on my walls is slick, and I slide back down. No problem, if it worked once (almost), it can work again. Attempt # 2. All the way up…then my hand slips again. No problem if I can do it twice, the third time’s a charm.
And it was! But I wouldn’t recommend this as a regular exercise. Because all those gyrations put my healing back to when I originally fell. And that is where I’ve been.
I have been wearing my journalist’s hat though. So after you stop laughing, here is some of the news!

Liz Cheney Declares Trump ‘An Enemy Of The Constitution’

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) has been showing America what a patriotic Republican looks like. The daughter of former Vice President is not in the least liberal, but both Cheney and Democrats believe in a strong American government. As the Vice Chair of the House January 6 Select Committee puts it, “Trump is an enemy of the Constitution.”
The Wyoming representative was incensed that the ex-president of these United States would claim that “all rules, regulations, and articles even those found in the constitution” be dropped. After all, Trump made the claim just so that he could reclaim the American presidency.
Trump has a history of doing something worse than his last unimaginable act. But when he suggested tearing up the foundation of America’s government, the U.S. Constitution, he went too far and stepped into the absurd realm. But Cheney was furious when she wrote:
‘DONALD TRUMP BELIEVES WE SHOULD TERMINATE “ALL RULES, REGULATIONS AND ARTICLES, EVEN THOSE FOUND IN THE CONSTITUTION” TO OVERTURN THE 2020 ELECTION. THAT WAS HIS VIEW ON 1/6 AND REMAINS HIS VIEW TODAY. NO HONEST PERSON CAN NOW DENY THAT TRUMP IS AN ENEMY OF THE CONSTITUTION.‘
Jack Smith Obtains Trove Of Mar-a-Lago Documents In Blow To Trump...
The Department of Justice (DOJ) was freed on Thursday by a federal appeals court to continue using the “thousands of documents seized from Donald Trump’s” home and resort, Mar-a-Lago. Now the DOJ can continue its criminal investigation into the previous president full bore.
Rather than fight with the DOJ, Trump seemed to give up the fight over the documents he stole from his time in the White House. The 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals made the decision to free up the documents needed for the DOJ’s investigation.
The appeals court indicated that Donald Trump, even as president, was not free to halt an investigation into himself, according to The Bloomberg News:
‘THE LAW IS CLEAR. WE CANNOT WRITE A RULE THAT ALLOWS ANY SUBJECT OF A SEARCH WARRANT TO BLOCK GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATIONS AFTER THE EXECUTION OF THE WARRANT. NOR CAN WE WRITE A RULE THAT ALLOWS ONLY FORMER PRESIDENTS TO DO SO. EITHER APPROACH WOULD BE A RADICAL REORDERING OF OUR CASELAW LIMITING THE FEDERAL COURTS’ INVOLVEMENT IN CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS.’
Jack Smith Seeks To Hold Trump Team In Contempt Over Docs...
Donald Trump’s legal team said just before Thanksgiving that when it looked at four places where the ex-president kept classified documents, the attorneys discovered two more documents. In response, the Department of Justice requested a judge hold 45 and his attorney’s in contempt. That has never happened before.
The attorneys said that they just found the documents in a storage facility Trump used and then gave them to the FBI. At that point, they concluded that the ex-president was finally in compliance. This was after the DOJ had issued a subpoena six months earlier.
However the DOJ told the Washington DC District Chief Judge Berry Howell those searches were not sufficient. Howell leads the federal grand jury, and contempt proceedings under her are “under seal” according to The Washington Post.
Trump has been looking at potential “criminal liability” in the investigation led by the new Special Counsel Jack Smith. It has been labeled the “Mar-a-Lago document investigation.” However, the document search expanded well beyond the previous president’s Southern White House. Are documents at any of Trump’s other locations such as his New York City apartment and office or his New Jersey golf club, among others?
Historic Same-Sex Marriage Law Passes Vote
Gay couples celebrated when legislators finally approved a “same-sex” bill in the House on Thursday. And President Joe Biden is scheduled to sign the legislation right away. The Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages were the same as other marriages in 2015. But after SCOTUS rescinded the right to abortions and other health care for women, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the decision that far as he was concerned, same-sex marriages were on the chopping block, too.
The bill passed with bipartisan support 258-169. It also protects interracial marriages, which Thomas did not disturb, probably due to his own interracial marriage. The law read regardless of “sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will be stepping down as leader at the end of this term, and whose career has come full circle, said as one of her last official acts, according to the Associated Press:
‘I BEGAN MY CAREER FIGHTING FOR LGBTQ COMMUNITIES — AND NOW, ONE OF THE FINAL BILLS THAT I WILL SIGN AS SPEAKER WILL ENSURE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEVER AGAIN STANDS IN THE WAY OF MARRYING THE PERSON YOU LOVE.’
‘The Lincoln Project’ Trashes Trump’s Call To Overthrow The Constitution
The Lincoln Project pointed out in one of its latest videos that Donald Trump said it was “important to support our Constitution and protect our Constitution” on January 6, 2021. That was just before he launched tens of thousands of his followers at the U.S. Capitol Building in an effort to overthrow American democracy and claim it for himself.
Now, Trump has been trying a different tactic. He called for the “termination of our Constitution” as a means to overturning the 2020 election:
‘DONALD TRUMP WANTS TO SUSPEND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION.’
