Jan. 6 Primetime Hearing Will Open Eyes Kinzinger Says
GLORIA CHRISTIE REPORTS: THE NEWSLETTER FOR INTELLIGENT WOMEN & MEN
Republican voters may not realize it, but all but two of the 211 Republican representatives and all but two of the 50 senators have totally shifted out from under them. Kind of like a dirty, fetid flooding stream washing out a bridge held up by just a few remaining braces.
Listening to Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) during the House January 6 Select Committee hearings, it would be easy for people to recognize the party of President Dwight “Ike” Eisenhower. But they would be oh, so, wrong.
Stand up Cheney or Kinzinger next to the Orange man, who thinks he is going to announce another run by Labor Day, and he would just slide his oily self into a puddle of mushed-up tapeworms that even the most rabid of badgers would avoid.

When I hear either of these two lone representatives, I can hear the patriotic voice I was raised on, of my dad talking. When he was 93, I finally got up the courage to tell Dad that I was a Democrat, and his only response was:
‘Ohhhhh, Gloria.’
Yeah, I know. But he didn’t know that his people were gone. A whole herd of MAGA cowards and/or liars filled in the spots the real but less than heroic Republicans abandoned when they retired “to spend more time with their families.”
So I like hearing Kinzinger on television talk shows aka the news. Sunday morning, he was on CBS’ Face the Nation. And he was talking to Margaret Brennan about the U.S. Capitol Police erasing all the text messages from their phones on January 5th and 6th. He said it would be “quite crazy'“for them to do that. True.
But there are two kinds of Capitol Police officers. Those like the ones who did medieval hand-to-hand combat with a mob of 10,000+ and those Vice President Mike Pence would not get into the car with after he came within 40 feet of the swirling mass of rage within the Capitol. Or the ones President Joe Biden immediately shifted out when he came into office. Trading them for trusted officers he had when he was VP.
Kinzinger, a pilot with the Air National Guard and an attorney said:
‘We, as leaders, must be willing to sacrifice our political careers when integrity and our oath requires it. MAGA Republicans have failed their oath of office. ‘
The next hearing will be televised during primetime on Thursday at 8:00 edt. Kinzinger continued, talking about the 187 missing minutes in the Oval Office that fateful day:
‘We have filled in the blanks. This is going to open people’s eyes in a big way. And this investigation is not winding down. We may be towards the end of this tranche of hearings, but we may have more hearings in the future. And the investigation is still ongoing.’
I had been singing in the Democrats’ songbook for a couple of decades before I realized that 3/5 of my best friends were Republicans. What can I say? They are really good friends to not mention that. And I’ve no doubt they are the of the rare Kinzinger-Cheney species.
