Hi there. Nice to see your smiling face. Well…maybe not see-see but intuit see. Did you hear that Donald Trump invited “Ye” (the former Kanye West) and the white supremacist Nick Fuentes over for dinner? I’m not sure whether they had turkey, but most likely they had chocolate cake. I hear that’s a previous president's preference. I’m not sure why Trump thought that would be a good idea, this dinner party. It makes me wonder if Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s President Kim Jong-un were there, too, just hiding in the shadows. What a strange group of bedfellows.
Can you imagine showing up at your Aunt Avis’ Thanksgiving dinner with Ye and Fuentes on each arm? I much prefer the Native American family friends that she and my Uncle Carroll had over. When we were little, after dinner we played cowboys and Indians. I was about seven and their twins were about the same age. When it came time to decide who would be the cowboys and who would be the Indians, we looked at one another and shrugged. Back then things were easier.
Now I feel myself plummeted into the Christmas season, but more willingly than usual. It helps when you move the ceramic pumpkin into the other room and replace it with the Santa cookie jar. Oh yeah, here’s another holiday tip, leave your Christmas tree up all year and then all you have to do is dust it off and plug in the lights — which will inevitably fail. But you will be ahead of the game.
And you think I’m kidding. Am I?
