UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Reluctantly Resigns Amid Flood of Scandals
GLORIA CHRISTIE REPORTS
Okay, think of the dueling banjos going faster and faster. In another bone-crushing handshake, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson finally yielded supremacy to Donald J. Trump, Sr. It was a meeting of the two ridiculously expensive coiffes. Alas, Boris is no more. He tried his best to stay on the job, but his Cabinet members were quitting right and left. So Boris very reluctantly resigned.
He should have listened to his mentor, Trump. The American equivalent refused to leave office. That was what he advises people to do, too. First, the former American president came up with a Big Lie, that his election was stolen.
Then, the orange man went around the country repeating the Big Lie over and over and over. But his protege managed a few really good bad acts before leaving. It was the middle of the COVID lockdown, and he was caught partying at Downing Street, getting up close and personal when the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh’s, funeral was in progress. Bad form, Boris. Bad form.
The PM fired his Cabinet Minister after his Secretary of Treasury and his Health Secretary resigned in disgust, refusing to work in a “scandal tarred” government, according to NBC News
The ex-president may have won the Olympic handshaking medal, but we are not certain he knows what that is:
‘Is its gold real? I think it is!"
In a crushing prepared statement read to Parliament yesterday, Health Secretary Sajid Javid decided that “the problem starts at the top and that is not going to change:”
‘This week again, we have reason to question the truth and integrity of what we’ve all been told. And at some point we have to conclude that enough is enough. I believe that point is now.’
NBC reported what Boris said:
‘The press wanted to know whether the PM would quit, but he claimed the job of a prime minister in difficult circumstances when you’ve been handed a colossal mandate is to keep going.’
UK Secretary of State Simon Hart put up his resignation letter on Twitter one he had written while he was still in office, according to NBC News.
‘I have never been a massive fan of Ministerial resignations being the best means of forcing change. Colleagues have done their upmost in private and in public to help you turn this ship around, but it is with sadness that I feel we have passed the point where this is possible.’
At the same time, Boris lost his Environment Minister and his Housing minister.
Then, he promoted his Conservative Deputy Chief Chris Pincher, a guy who truly lives up to his name, who resigned after being caught “groping two men at a private club.” Clearly, PM Johnson was not capable of handling the job.
Nor was Trump, but he never let that stop him. Boris shouldn’t feel too badly. The Brits take lying politicians far more seriously than the U.S. does. The former American president was born with grifting in his DNA.
